Alesia Pinney Joins Avalara as General Counsel

Recognized Chief Legal Officer is Latest Hire as Company Accelerates its Rapid Growth

Bainbridge Island, WA – May 8, 2013 Avalara, the market leading provider of sales tax and compliance automation services in the cloud, today announced the appointment of Alesia Pinney as its general counsel. Pinney has served as an operational and legal executive for private and publicly traded companies, most recently as general counsel and secretary for Radiant Global Logistics Inc.

Her extensive background includes leadership positions in legal, accounting, and operations, which will serve the company well as it broadens its range of compliance solutions to businesses of all sizes. “Avalara is building a world class management team with an eye toward accelerating our rapid growth,” said Avalara Founder and CEO Scott McFarlane. “Alesia’s acclaimed leadership and broad experience will go a long way as we continue to shape the company and set a new standard for compliance automation.”

Pinney has a wealth of experience managing public offerings and private financings, mergers, acquisitions and company-transforming strategic transactions for private and publicly traded companies. Previous positions include serving as general counsel of InfoSpace Inc. and drugstore.com. Before that she practiced law at Perkins Coie, LLP, where her practice focused on corporation finance including public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital. She began her career as a certified public accountant at Deloitte Haskins and Sells.

Pinney earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Seattle University, her Master of Taxation from the University of Denver, College of Law, and her Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law. She currently serves as a board advisor to Motiga, Inc., an early stage game company.
