Sales Tax VAR Channel




Avalara, a provider of on-demand sales and use tax services for small and midsize businesses, is working to build a VAR channel among CPAs, and has unveiled its integration with additional Microsoft products. The vendor's Infiniti Partner Program, which works with some 200 VARS and is looking to add 10 to 15 per month, works with the vendor's AvaTax ST solution, used to calculate sales and use taxes. Commissions are earned on set-up and service fees.  

Avalara looks to become "a beneficial ally" to VARs and small businesses caught in the complexities of the Streamlined Sales Tax Project (SSTP), billed by proponents as a sales and use tax system that radically simplifies sales and use taxes but which also threatens to buffalo small and midsize businesses who must dramatically change how they calculate taxes on interstate sales, and who may leave themselves open to audits from potentially dozens of agencies.
