International Indirect Tax Summit 2019
E-commerce tax reboot
The VAT rules for e-commerce sellers and marketplaces are about to be turned on their head. Brexit and European Union 2021 reforms will impose the biggest changes to the rules in over 20 years. At Avalara’s VAT summit, government and industry experts map out the changes and risks, and how to keep e-commerce business rolling.
- Brexit – trade and political speaker panel lay out likely scenarios in the run-up to the 31 October exit date. What happens on a no-deal exit and potential trade deals.
- EU 2021 – Ana-Maria Caraman, European Commission, explains how e-commerce VAT rules will be relaxed in 2021, and marketplaces will take responsibility for certain sales
- MTD 2020 - Verna Gellvear, HMRC, explains phase two of MTD for VAT next April, and the expectations for the digital journey and penalty regime
- Global VAT - Mike Cunningham, HM Treasury, talks about the global picture, plus an update on VAT post Brexit.
- End of Ownership, Rise of Usership - Elizabeth Glover, Zuora, explains why consumers around the world are increasingly preferring access to services over owning products as the Subscription Economy grows.
Our e-commerce special will focus on these areas whilst also including some additional insight on the role of Brexit, Making Tax Digital and how other legislation changes are impacting businesses across the globe.
