San Diego Zoo

We love our customers! Avalara is coming to San Diego for a fun customer appreciation A-List event. On October 26, join us at the world-famous San Diego Zoo to hear from industry experts, participate in breakout sessions, and network with fellow professionals. Following the presentations, we’ll enjoy refreshments, tour several exhibits, and see four of the Zoo’s rarest and most dynamic animals from a zookeeper. This event will sell out, register now.

Avalara is returning to San Diego for a fun A-List event on October 26th. A-List events deliver user-inspired content, training, and networking opportunities for customers across the country. Attendees will meet with subject matter experts on Avalara products, services, and tax compliance, followed by refreshments, a VIP zoo tour and zookeeper presentation.


Seating is limited for this event. First-come, first-serve. We will create a waiting list for those who are not able to register. You must attend the meeting portion to be eligible to attend the private bus tour, animal presentation, and dinner buffet. Justin Barnes
Justin Barnes, Senior Tax Manager, Tax Technology, DMA

Justin has more than eight years’ experience with transaction tax and systems. His expertise includes implementation processes, integration procedures, project management, product code determination, organizational settings, exempt customer determination, testing procedures, and adequate test results. Prior to working with DMA’s Tax Technology Division, Justin spent 10 years in the US Army as an Information Systems Specialist. While in this role, Justin was responsible for various technical areas including project management, systems design, application development, database management, data transformation, and software troubleshooting.

Katherine Parrish
Katherine Parrish, DMA, CMI, Senior Tax Manager, Sales/Use Tax

As a Senior Tax Manager, Katherine works closely with clients to develop sales/use tax planning and tax recovery strategies that result in significant tax savings. She specializes in conducting overpayment reviews by examining current and past sales/use tax records to obtain overpaid taxes for major corporations in a variety of industries. Katherine also assists clients with audit defense – negotiating with auditors and other state taxing officials – to minimize their tax liabilities. In addition, she provides sales/use tax training seminars to DMA’s clients.
