New functionalities on GST portal to benefit TCS and Composition taxpayers

The Central Board for Indirect Taxes and Customs has announced the implementation of new functionalities on the Goods and Services Tax Portal that will significantly benefit taxpayers classified under the Composition Scheme and those under the Tax Collected at Source provision.
Basis feedback received from stakeholders, the GSTN has removed the one time restriction of amending the transaction details in the amendment table of form GSTR8. Taxpayers who are registered under dealers who collect tax at source can now make changes to the amendment table in form GSTR8 multiple times.
Furthermore, the facility to collect tax at source is being extended to dealers who have opted for the composition scheme under the Goods and Services tax. Composite dealers who are provisioned to carry out supplies through e-commerce operators (for instance, restaurant services) will be able to access the TCS and TDS credit received forms. Consecutively, e-commerce operators will be able to furnish details of composition dealers when they file GSTR8. Once the GSTIN of the composite dealer is mentioned in the e-commerce operator’s GSTR8, the details of TCS and TDS credit received will be auto populated in that composite dealer’s returns form with a similar mechanism to accept or reject the furnished details.
