- Apr 10, 2012 | Will Frei

Virginia passed HB 513, a bill that extends the sunset dates for certain sales tax holidays.
The bill extends the sunset dates on the sales tax holidays for hurricane preparedness equipment and certain energy efficient products from 2012 to 2017.
The hurricane preparedness holiday is a seven-day period near the end of May. This year, it runs from May 25 to May 31, 2012.
The four-day holiday for energy efficient products begins on the Friday before the second Monday of October each year, according to the Virginia Department of Taxation.
These Virginia state sales tax holidays are now extended to continue until 2017.
