Alabama Local Sales Tax Rate Changes

The Alabama Department of Revenue announced that the town of Sanford, Alabama has raised its sales tax rates on automotive vehicles.
Effective May 1, 2012, Sanford raised the sales tax rate for ". . . all automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers, and house trailers . . . ." from 0.250% to 0.500%. The notice from the Department of Revenue adds, "If sales of tangible personal property are made or delivered outside the corporate limits of the city but within the police jurisdiction of the city, the rates of tax are one-half of those stated above."
