Louisiana East Baton Rouge Parish Sales Tax Positive

  • May 29, 2012 | Susan McLain

Louisiana WAFB.com reports that East Baton Rouge Parish “…could end up with additional money above its budget for the year.”

What to do?

Mayor-President Kip Holden wants to “…be cautious in deciding what to do with any extra cash.” However, some council members “…are encouraging…[the] administration to free money for law enforcement, summer youth programs and other needs.”

The administration is calling the 7.5% increase over last year’s revenue a “sales tax boom.”
