Maryland Passes Sales Tax Exemption Bills

In a recent press release, it was announced that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley signed the following bills affecting sales tax exemptions:

SB 19/HB 319 – Repeals the termination provision applicable to sales and use tax exemption for sales to specified veteran’s organizations. Effective June 1, 2012.

SB 40/HB 1301 – Exempts “…sales of machinery and equipment to be used directly and predominantly to produce Energy Star windows or Energy Star entry doors for residential real property and utilities used to operate the machinery or equipment.” Effective July 1, 2012.
