Alaska has no state sales tax, but the local municipalities are granted the authority to impose sales taxes.
The city of Wrangell imposes a 7 percent sales tax on the “…sales price of all retail sales, on all rents, and on all services, made, paid or performed within the municipality.”
However, on Saturday, June 16, 2012, Wrangell will have a “Sales Tax Free Day” with sales tax free shopping all day.
