The Maryland Comptroller's office announced that beginning November 1, 2012 businesses using paper forms to file Maryland sales and use tax returns must use a new form

Form 202, the new Maryland sales and use tax return form, will include a 2D barcode for processing returns "quickly and accurately."

However, the Comptroller's office reminds Maryland taxpayers that ". . . the fastest, safest, and easiest way to meet your sales and use tax obligation is to file and pay electronically." The following electronic filing options are available:

  • "bFile – File online for free using bFile at www.marylandtaxes.com . . .
  • EFT – Pay by electronic funds transfer, using direct debit or credit methods. To register, call 1-800-638-2937.
  • Credit Card – Pay by credit card online at www.officialpayments.com or by calling 1-800-2PAYTAX" [links added].
