Mississippi Sales Tax Holiday Begins Friday
- Jul 26, 2012 | Susan McLain

The Mississippi State sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 A.M. Friday, July 27, 2012 and ends 12:00 midnight Saturday, July 28, 2012. The two-day holiday exempts clothing or footwear from sales tax “…if the sales price of a single…item is less than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).”
The $100.00 threshold applies to each eligible item “…regardless of how many items are sold at the same time. Items priced at $100.00 or more are subject to Sales Tax at the regular retail rate of 7%.”
Cities do not have to participate. Enterprise, Heidelberg and Crenshaw have officially determined to not participate. Retailers in these three cities are required to charge sales tax on all retail sales of clothing and footwear.
For a list of items that are eligible in participating locations, check out the Official Mississippi Guide For The Sales Tax Holiday.
