Washington Sales Tax Return Filing Relief

  • Aug 1, 2012 | Susan McLain

A recent message from the Washington State Department of Revenue* states:

A series of storms, starting July 13, produced high winds, lightning, and extreme rainfall damaging homes and businesses in 16 Washington counties. Governor Gregoire declared a state of emergency for  Adams, Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Jefferson, Kitsap, Kittitas, Klickitat, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Walla Walla, and Yakima counties.

Businesses in those counties that were adversely affected by the storms, and were unable to file their June 2012 or Quarter 2, 2012 tax return on time, may request a waiver of the penalties and interest that result from filing late.
