Florida DOR Announces Rule Development Workshop
- Nov 15, 2012 | Gail Cole
The Florida Department of Revenue has announced it will be hosting a Rule Development Workshop on November 28, in Tallahassee. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss proposed changes to the Sales and Use Tax sections of the Florida Administrative Code.
The proposed amendments are to the Enterprise Zone and Florida Neighborhood Revitalization Programs (Rule 12A-1.107, F.A.C.) The DOR is seeking "to provide clarification of the eligibility requirements that must be met and those records and documentation that must be provided to claim the Enterprise Zone and Florida Neighborhood Revitalization Program incentives."
The issues to be examined are:
- Enterprise Zone Jobs Sales Tax Credit
- Building Materials Used in the Rehabilitation of Real Property
- Business Property Used in an Enterprise Zone
Florida Enterprise Zone programs have been around since 1982, and were legislated in 1994 with the passage of the Florida Enterprise Zone act. Their goal is to enhance economic development in various communities throughout the state, both urban and rural. "The Florida Department of Revenue is responsible for processing all enterprise zone tax incentive applications."
The Rule Development Workshop is set for 10:00 a.m., November 28, 2012. It's open to the public, both virtually and in person. Feedback and discussion are encouraged.
