Kansas: Rate Changes Set for January 1, 2013


The Kansas Department of Revenue has released a list of state and local sales and use tax rate changes, effective January 1, 2013.

Jackson County will change its sales tax rate from 1% to 1.4%. The change means the following counties and cities will have a sales tax rate of 7.70%: Jackson County, City of Circleville, City of Delia, City of Denison, City of Hoyt, City of Neawaka, City of Soldier, and City of Whiting. City of Holton will have a new rate of 7.95%, and City of Mayetta will have a new rate of 8.70%.

Lane County is implementing a Sales Tax of 1%. This means the new sales tax rate will be 7.30% for Lane County, and 8.30% for the City of Dighton.

The following cities will have new sales tax rates:

Riley County is reducing sales tax rates from 1% to 0.5%:

In addition, there are several new Community Improvement Districts (CID) in the state:

The City of Shawnee has created Shawnee Ten Quivira Plaza CID with a 0.5% tax rate. Address ranges are: 11900 - 12298 Shawnee Mission Parkway (even addresses). The combined state and local tax rate for the new district is 9.275%.

The City of Wichita has created Wichita Douglas & Broadway CID with a 2% tax rate. The address is 104 S Broadway St (one business). The combined state and local tax rate for the new district is 9.3%.

The City of Roeland Park has created Roeland Park Center CID with a 1% tax rate. Address ranges are 5000 - 5200 Roe Blvd (even addresses), and 4701 Sycamore Drive. The combined state and local tax rate for the new district is 9.775%.
