Michigan DOR to Host Public Hearing Regarding Sales and Use Tax Rules

The Michigan Department of Treasury Bureau of Tax Policy has announced that it will host a public hearing on the subject of "proposed changes to certain General and Specific Sales and Use Tax Rules."

The hearing is designed to "receive public comments" regarding proposed changes to:

  • "provide clarity on existing rules";
  • provide "guidance on the treatment of single mixed transactions"; and
  • discuss the "rescission of unnecessary rules."

The public hearing will take place from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on December 14, 2012, at the Richard H. Austin Building at 430 West Allegan Street, Lansing. Interested parties should go to the State Treasurer's Board Room, First Floor.

Written comments may also be submitted, either by mail or electronically. Additional information is available in the notice. (Notice, p 14)
