Sales Tax Change for Perdido Beach, Alabama

The Department of Revenue has announced a new sales tax policy for the Town of Perdido Beach, in Baldwin County. It will take effect May 1, 2013.
Under relevant Alabama law, municipalities may "levy a true sales, use, rental and lodgings tax identical to the corresponding State Tax Laws…." (Article 3, Chapter 51, Title 11, et seq., Code of Alabama, 1975).
Resolution No. 2013-05, adopted by Perdido Beach, allows the Alabama Department of Revenue to administer and collect sales and use tax, as well as any other additional taxes, on behalf of Perdido Beach.
Local taxes for the period ending May 31, 2013 (due on or before June 20, 2013) should be filed with the Alabama Department of Revenue. The taxes may also be filed electronically, through My Alabama Taxes (MAT). Perdido Beach tax rates may be found at the Alabama DOR.
