Utah: New Sales Tax Exemption for Fuel Cells

Utah Exempts Sales of Fuel Cell, Promotes Green Energy.

Utah Governor Gary Herbert signed SB 250 into law on March 22, 2013. Fuel cells are now exempt from the state sales and use tax, effective April 1, 2013.

A fuel cell is defined Utah Code Section 54-15-102 as:

“… a device in which the energy of a reaction between a fuel and an oxidant is converted directly and continuously into electrical energy.”
