Alabama to Implement My Alabama Taxes, July 2013

  • May 15, 2013 | Gail Cole

Alabama DOR invites taxpayers to connect online, through MAT. July 1, 2013.

There's to be a big change at the Department of Revenue this summer: ADOR will discontinue the current Paperless Filing and Payment System and replace it with My Alabama Taxes (MAT). MAT takes over completely on July 1, 2013.

Taxpayers who file the following taxes are advised to continue to use the Paperless Filing and Payment system until July 1, 2013:

  • Certain self-administered local sales, use, rental, and lodgings taxes. They will be available in MAT as of July 1, 2013.
  • "Bulk file" taxes. As of this writing, bulk filing is only available in MAT for withholding tax. It will be available for other taxes on July 1, 2013.
  • Hospital Assessment Fees. After June 30, 2013, contact the Sales & Use Tax Division at 334-242-1490 or 1-866-576-6531.
  • Playing Cards Tax. Contact the Tobacco Tax Section before making any payments after June 30: 334-242-9627.

Alabama is a Limited Home Rule state; certain localities administer their own local taxes.

To make the transition to MAT, visit the Alabama Department of Revenue. Or automate now, and let someone else take care of your sales and use tax needs.
