Atwater California Sales Tax Rate Change, July 2013

The City of Atwater, in Merced County, California, will have a new district tax, effective July 1, 2013.
The tax increase was approved by voters during a special election in early March. Measure H authorizes “a ½ cent transactions and use tax for special purposes.” The tax is to “preserve the City’s long-term financial stability and maintain public safety services, including police patrols and fire protection; 911 emergency response; rapid response to gang violence, robberies and burglaries; park safety; youth….”
The tax is “for the term of up to ten (10) years, with all funds to be spent locally….”
