Crawford County Kansas Transient Guest Tax Rate Change

  • May 13, 2013 | Gail Cole

Keeping an eye on the upcoming Kansas sales tax rate change.

The Kansas Department of Revenue reminds that Crawford County has a new transient guest tax rate, effective April 1, 2013. The rate increased by 2%, raising it from 4% to 6%.

Statewide Rate Change on Horizon

The Kansas state sales tax rate of 6.3%--the result of a temporary rate increase established in 2010--is set to drop back to 5.7% on July 1 of this year. Governor Sam Brownback (R) would like to keep the state tax rate at the current 6.3%. His office predicts that would raise more than $260 million in FY 2014 alone.

Kansas Department of Revenue is watching lawmakers closely, and notes on its website that Kansas Legislature will publish any July 2013 sales tax rate change by June 1, 2013.
