South Dakota Rewards Timely Taxpayers

  • Jul 2, 2013 | Gail Cole

South Dakota tax collectors offer money to timely taxpayers.

The July 1, 2013 Department of Revenue informs of a new perk for timely filers of sales tax returns. It reads:

"If you file and pay your sales tax return electronically and on time you will receive a collection allowance beginning January 1, 2014. The filing allowance will be 1.5% of the tax due on the sales tax return, not to exceed $70 for each reporting period."

Okay, so $70 each reporting period won't make you rich, but it can buy a decent dinner for two. It's a simple way to thank taxpayers who file electronically and pay on time. It'll do.

The allowance was approved by the 2013 South Dakota Legislature.

Want money in your pocket for a nice dinner? Automation can help.
