Florida: two local discretionary surtaxes set to expire in December 2014.

Numerous localities in Florida impose a discretionary sales surtax. Two of these are set to expire at the end of this year.

Unless the following discretionary sales surtaxes are extended, they will expire on December 31, 2014:

  • The 1% discretionary sales surtax in Charlotte County, which took effect on April 1, 1995.
  • The 0.5% discretionary sales surtax in Hernando County, which took effect on January 1, 2005.
