Idaho’s New E911 Prepaid Wireless Fee

 Idaho's new E911 prepaid wireless service fee.

As of January 1, 2014, certain retailers in Idaho State Tax Commission.

Prepaid wireless services are also called pay-as-you-go services. They allow customers to access wireless networks for a specific period of time. Contracts are not required.

In order to help offset E911 administrative costs, retailers may retain 3% of the fees they collect. All additional revenue generated by the E911 prepaid wireless service fee goes toward the Idaho Emergency Communications Fund.

Retailers of prepaid wireless services who have not already received E911 registration information from the Idaho Tax Commission should contact the Idaho State Tax Commission.
