File Colorado Sales Tax Returns Every Filing Period

  • Feb 13, 2014 | Gail Cole

Colorado: even if you only write "zero," you must still file a sales tax return for every filing period.

The Colorado Department of Revenue reminds sales tax filers that a return is due for every Colorado filing period, even if the amount due is zero.

The department’s tax accounting system “regards a missing return as a non-filed return” and then sends a nonfiler notice to the taxpayer. Taxpayers who fail to file several returns will have their sales tax licenses closed. Additional information is available on the department’s weblog.

Don’t let the system think you’re a scofflaw. Switch to an automates sales tax system and file on time, every time.
