Alabama Sales Tax Rate Changes, June 2014

The Town of Mount Vernon, Alabama, will impose a new rental tax of 4%, effective June 1, 2014.

The 4% tax applies to general rentals of tangible personal property, automobiles, and linen. Outside the town limits of Mount Vernon but within the police jurisdictions, the rental tax will be one half the rate in town, or 2%.

The new rental tax is to be administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue and should be filed online through My Alabama Taxes.
