July 2014 Utah Sales Tax Rate Changes

 View from East Carbon, Utah.

Several upcoming sales and use tax rate changes have been Utah State Tax Commission.

Effective July 1, 2014:

  • Farr West will have a new municipal transient room tax of 1%.
  • East Carbon and Sunnyside will be disincorporated and immediately reincorporated as one city, the city of East Carbon. The newly incorporated East Carbon will retain the East Carbon county/city code (04-058). The code for Sunnyside (04-046) will no longer be used. There is no rate change.

House Bill 155 also takes effect on the first of July. It merges the Utah Communications Agency Network and the Utah 911 Committee into an independent state agency, Utah Communications Authority. Tax rates and service charges associated with 911 calls will be affected in the following way:

  • The charge for Computer Aided Dispatch Restricted Account (tax type CD) will drop from 7 cents to 6 cents per month.
  • The 911 service charge (tax type SE) will increase from 8 cents to 9 cents per month.

An automated sales tax solution helps businesses stay on top of rate changes, nationwide.
