Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday Is This Weekend

  • May 23, 2014 | Gail Cole

Texans can save sales tax on energy efficient products, May 24-26, 2014.

This is a reminder that the Texas sales tax holiday for Energy Star appliances runs this weekend, May 24 through 26, 2014. Numerous energy efficient products will be exempt from Texas sales tax during the long Memorial Day weekend.

According to Texas Comptroller Susan Combs, “Shoppers can save money up front by not having to pay sales tax when buying appliances during the holiday weekend and the energy efficient products can help reduce utility costs.” Approximately $3.8 million in state and local sales tax is expected to be saved during this tax-free period.
