New Exemption Certificate for Washington State Farmers

Certain Washington farmers need a new exemption certificate.

Businesses eligible for an exemption from Washington sales tax on equipment and facilities used in livestock nutrient management no longer need to apply for an exemption certificate, beginning June 12, 2014.

In its place, such businesses must supply vendors with a properly completed Farmers’ Certificate for Wholesale Purchases and Sales Tax Exemptions in order to obtain the exemption. This is due to a change in state law.

How does your business keep track of changing requirements for sales tax exemptions, in Washington and other states? Automating exemption certificate management helps.
