August 2014 Sales Tax Holidays
- Jul 28, 2014 | Gail Cole

The time for sales tax savings is fast approaching. State departments of revenue from Connecticut to Texas are reminding taxpayers of upcoming tax free periods. To date, fifteen states have announced August 2014 sales tax holidays.
Sales tax holidays happen year-round and impact a wide variety of items, from guns to clerical vestments (see a map of 2014 state sales tax holidays). Do you sell qualifying items into states with a tax free period? Is your business prepared?
Warning! Participation is voluntary in some states, like Alabama and Mississippi. Retailers selling in non-participating cities and counties must charge tax during tax free periods.
An automated sales tax solution makes handling sales tax holidays a breeze.
