Michigan: August Prepaid Sales Tax Rates for Fuel


 Michigan: August prepaid sales tax rates for gas.

The Michigan Department of Treasury must make public the prepaid sales tax rate on fuel every month, pursuant to MCL 205.6a. Rates in Michigan are subject to change monthly.

For the month of August 2014, prepaid sales tax rates for the purchase or receipt of gasoline and diesel fuel are as follows:

  • 21 cents per gallon of gasoline (up from the July rate of 20.2 cents per gallon)
  • 21.7 cents per gallon of diesel fuel (down from the July rate of 22 cents per gallon)
