Los Angeles County Transportation Tax
- Aug 27, 2014 | Gail Cole
A change has been made to the law allowing the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to impose a 0.5% transactions and use tax to fund specified transportation-related projects (subject to voter approval).
Now the MTA must amend the expenditure plan previously prepared for Measure R transactions and use tax (subject to voter approval) to include the following:
- The most recent cost estimates for each project and program identified in the amended expenditure plan.
- The identification of the accelerated cost (when applicable) for each project and program in the amended expenditure plan.
- The anticipated schedule of fund availability for each project and program.
- Expected completion dates for each project and program.
The MTA is also now required to “develop a transparent process to determine the most recent cost estimates for each project and program” in the expenditure plan. Read the text of SB 1039, Chapter 196.
