Tax Relief for Victims of Northern California Wildfires

Sunset during the 2008 California wildfires.

Tax relief is available for businesses impacted by the wildfires in Northern California, thanks to an emergency proclamation issued by Governor Edmund G. Brown. Wildfires have torn through Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lassen, Madera, Mariposa, Mendocino, Modoc, Shasta and Siskiyou counties.

Taxpayers in affected areas may request the following:

  • An extension to file returns.
  • Relief from penalties and/or interest from some taxes and fees.
  • Replacement copies of records lost or damaged in the fires.
