New York City Cigarette Tax Rate Will Not Drop This Year

The NYC cigarette tax rate has been extended.

The cigarette tax rate in New York City is currently 75 cents per ten cigarettes. That rate was set to decline at the start of next year to between two to four cents per ten cigarettes. Now, however, it will remain at 75 cents per ten cigarettes through December 31, 2017.

This rate extension is the result of an amendment to section 13 of New York Assembly Bill 9462.

Blink and you could miss a tax rate change that will impact your business. Automated sales tax software enables you to close your eyes in peace.
