Do You Qualify for Tax Amnesty in Massachusetts?
- Sep 2, 2014 | Gail Cole

Labor Day marked the start of the Massachusetts 2014 tax amnesty program, when penalties are waived for qualifying taxpayers who take care of outstanding tax liabilities and interest. It runs through October 31, 2014.
The program was created to “encourage the payment of delinquent taxes by individuals and businesses.” Notices are being mailed to the roughly 300,000 taxpayers who qualify for the amnesty program, informing them of:
- Individual period balances.
- Amount of unpaid penalty to be waived if the amnesty balance is paid in full by the due date.
- Amnesty amount due.
Additional information is available in the Massachusetts Department of Revenue tax amnesty press release, which includes links to pertinent FAQs and a Technical Information Release.
