Alabama Sales Tax Rate Changes, December 2014


 Cordova, Alabama: sales tax rates are going up in December.

Several localities in Alabama will increase sales tax rates or impose a new sales tax, effective December 1, 2014.

Cordova:

  • All sales and use tax rates are increasing from 2% to 3% except the net difference paid for all automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers and house trailers, which is increasing from 0.25% to 1%.
  • Rates for purchases made (or delivered) outside the corporate limits of town but within the police jurisdiction are half the in-town limits.

Nostaluga:

Nostaluga is imposing a new rental tax.

  • The rate for the lease or rental of tangible personal property will be 4%.
  • The rate for the lease of rental of automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers and house trailers will be 1.5%.
  • The rate for the lease or rental of linens and garments will be 4%.

Semmes:

  • The general rate, rate for admissions to places of amusement and entertainment and the rate for human food sold through vending machines is increasing from 2.5% to 3%.
  • All other rates remain the same.
  • Rates for purchases made (or delivered) outside the corporate limits of town but within the police jurisdiction are half the in-town limits.

Town of Pine Hill:

  • The general rate, the rate for admissions to places of entertainment and the rate for human food sold through vending machines is increasing to 2.5%.
  • The rate for the net difference paid for machines, machinery, and equipment used for agriculture is increasing from 1% to 1.25%.
  • The rate for machines, parts and attachments for machines used in manufacturing tangible personal paid property is increasing from 1% to 1.25% or 2.50%.
  • The rate for the net difference paid for all automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers and  house trailers is increasing from 1% to 1.25%.
  • Rates for purchases made (or delivered) outside the corporate limits of town but within the police jurisdiction are half the in-town limits.
