Illinois: Prepaid Sales Tax Motor Fuel Rate, January 2015


 Illinois prepaid sales tax rate for motor fuel dropping in 2015.

The prepaid sales tax motor fuel rate in Illinois is subject to change every six months, although there was no rate change in 2014. In 2015, the rate is dropping a bit.

The prepaid sales tax motor fuel rate in effect from January through December 2014:

  • 16 cents per gallon for gasohol and biodiesel (1% to 10%).
  • 20 cents per gallon for gasoline and other motor fuels.

The rate for the period January 2015 through June 30, 2015:

  • 15 cents per gallon for gasohol and biodiesel (1% to 10%).
  • 19 cents per gallon for gasoline and other motor fuels.
