Washington: New Hotel/Motel Tax
- Nov 26, 2014 | Gail Cole

In southeast Washington State sits the small, picturesque town of Colfax. It’s a nice place to visit, situated as it is in the Palouse, at the confluence of the north and south forks of the Palouse River, west of the Rocky Mountains and north of Washington State University in Pullman.
Beginning January 1, 2015, the City of Colfax will impose a 2% Special Hotel/Motel Tax on lodging businesses with 30 or more rooms. This is in addition to the retail sales tax rate of 7.8%, for a combined tax rate of 9.8%.
Colfax lodging establishments with 29 rooms or less are subject only to the retail sales tax rate of 7.8%. Additional information.
