Minnesota’s Naughty Businesses

 Naughty or nice?

T’is the time of year when children create Christmas lists and send them to Santa. T’is the time of year when Santa and his elves (aka moms and dads) create lists of children naughty and nice. Making the Minnesota Department of Revenue list of Tax Delinquents? Not so nice.

Each month, the department updates the list of Minnesota businesses prohibited from purchasing liquor, beer or wine to resell. Businesses make the list by owing any number of delinquent state taxes: sales, withholding, partnership, S corporations and corporate. They are removed from the list when they pay the taxes owed. Until the taxes are paid, distributors may not sell or make deliveries to businesses on the list.
