Vermont: Local Sales Tax Rate Table Updated
- Dec 3, 2014 | Gail Cole

Several towns in Vermont impose a local option sales tax in addition to the Vermont state sales tax. On December 1, 2014, the Vermont Department of Taxation released an updated list of towns where the local option sales tax applies.
According to updated Vermont Sales and Use Tax Rate Table, “A 1% Local Option Town Tax should be collected for any sales within or shipped to the following town and zip code designations.” Numerous zip codes, all listed, apply to each of the following towns:
- Burlington
- South Burlington
- Dover
- Killington
- Manchester
- Middlebury
- Rutland Town
- Stratton
- Williston
- Wilmington
- Winhall
- St. Albans Town
In most states, sales tax rates do not match zip codes and reliance on zip codes can lead to errors. Geolocation provides the right rate every time. See for yourself.
