California Severe Winter Storms Bring Tax Relief
- Jan 6, 2015 | Gail Cole

If you are one of the many California taxpayers adversely affected by December’s severe storms in Marin, Mendocino, San Mateo and Ventura counties, you may be eligible for tax relief. Relief is available for business owners or feepayers who were directly affected by the severe winter storms and who, because of the storms, cannot meet their filing and payment deadlines.
The California State Board of Equalization is offering a one-month extension of filing deadline for numerous taxes and fees, including but not limited to:
- Sales and use taxes
- Lumber products assessment
- Gasoline tax
- Use fuel tax
- Alcoholic beverage taxes
- Cigarette and tobacco products taxes
- Diesel fuel tax
- Emergency telephone users surcharges
Affected taxpayers are encouraged to request a filing extension or relief from interest and penalties online. Taxpayers in need of copies of BOE tax records may request them by calling the BOE at 1-800-400-7115. Additional information.
