Arkansas Sales Tax Holiday, August 2015
- Feb 4, 2015 | Gail Cole

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration has announced dates for the state’s 2015 sales tax holiday for clothing and school supplies. It will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 and conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015.
Participation is mandatory. During the holiday, businesses “may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt.” This is true even for remote retailers that are required to collect Arkansas sales tax.
Exempt
- Clothing and footwear costing less than $100 per item (pair)
- Clothing accessories and equipment costing less than $50 per item
- School supplies
- School art supplies
- School instructional materials
See the Department of Revenue’s Instructions for Retailers for a more complete list of items that are exempt—and taxable—during the tax-free period.
