Arkansas Sales Tax Holiday, August 2015

  • Feb 4, 2015 | Gail Cole

Clothing and school supplies are exempt from sales tax during the Arkansas 2015 August sales tax holiday.

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration has announced dates for the state’s 2015 sales tax holiday for clothing and school supplies. It will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 and conclude at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015.

Participation is mandatory. During the holiday, businesses “may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt.” This is true even for remote retailers that are required to collect Arkansas sales tax.

  • Clothing and footwear costing less than $100 per item (pair)
  • Clothing accessories and equipment costing less than $50 per item
  • School supplies
  • School art supplies
  • School instructional materials

See the Department of Revenue’s Instructions for Retailers for a more complete list of items that are exempt—and taxable—during the tax-free period.
