Utah: Murmurs of a Sales Tax Rate Increase, Online Sales Tax
- Mar 24, 2015 | Gail Cole

A bill calling for a sales tax increase was introduced on the last day of Utah’s legislative session and filed in the House file for bills not passed. There it sits, patiently, until the start of the next session.
House Bill 456 seeks to raise the state sales tax rate from 4.7% to 5.4%. The additional sales tax revenue would be deposited into a Transportation Fund. If approved as written, it would take effect on October 1, 2015.
