Sales Tax Filing Extension for Baltimore Businesses
- May 11, 2015 | Gail Cole

In response to the recent unrest in Baltimore, Maryland, Comptroller Peter Franchot has announced a two-week extension of the monthly sales tax deadline for Baltimore businesses.
Under normal circumstances, April sales tax returns should be filed by May 20, 2015. Baltimore businesses now have until June 3, 2015, to file sales tax returns and payments. Businesses will not be penalized for returns filed by June 3.
Comptroller Franchot issued the following statement:
“We recognized that the retailers and restaurants that are such a vital part of the community are in need of help as the rebuilding process begins in Baltimore City. Extending the sales tax deadline will offer some assistance as businesses, which are already facing tough economic times, are now struggling because of a loss in revenues.”
