Illinois Prepaid Sales Tax for Motor Fuel, July 2015

 Discover Illinois prepaid sales tax rates for motor fuel.

Effective July 1, 2015, the prepaid sales tax for motor fuel in Illinois will decrease.

These prepaid sales tax rates are subject to change twice annually, January 1 and July 1. The rate for the period January 1 through June 30 is 15 cents per gallon for gasohol/biodiesel and 19 cents per gallon for gasoline and other motor fuels.

Rates for July 1 – December 31, 2015 are as follows:

  • Gasohol/biodiesel: 11 cents per gallon
  • Gasoline/other motor fuels: 14 cents per gallon
