New Lodging Tax in Jackson County, Mississippi, October 2015

 Jackson County, Mississippi to impose new hotel/motel tax, October 2015.

A special hotel and motel tax will be levied in Jackson County, Mississippi, effective October 1, 2015. Revenue generated by the 2% tax will fund tourism promotion by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau. Please note that this special tax is in addition to all other taxes currently imposed on the rental of hotel and motel rooms in Jackson County.

“Hotel” and “motel” are defined as “any establishment engaged in the business of furnishing or providing rooms intended or designed for dwelling, lodging or sleeping purposes to transient guests and which are known to the trade as such.
