Tucson Offers Tax Amnesty of Its Own

  • Sep 2, 2015 | Gail Cole

Arizona is offering a Tax Recovery program from September 1 through October 31, 2015. The amnesty applies to individual and corporate income taxes and transaction privilege and use taxes for program cities—those for which the Arizona Department of Revenue licenses and collects transaction privilege tax. However, it does not apply to non-program city taxes.

Now the City of Tucson has announced that it, too, is providing Tax Amnesty between September 1 and October 30, 2015. According to the City of Tucson:

“This rare opportunity will allow Tucson business owners to submit delinquent sales tax or license fees without penalty and with reduced interest due on delinquent balances. This is also an opportunity for Tucson businesses that are not licensed to get licensed, without penalty.”

Amnesty is open to any Tucson business with the following delinquencies, on or before September 1, 2015:

  • Business license tax fees
  • Tax license fees
  • City sales/use tax

It is also open to taxpayers who filed without paying fees or taxes in full. Additional information is available here and here.
