Tax Relief for Flooded South Carolinians

  • Oct 21, 2015 | Gail Cole

Tax relief is available for South Carolina taxpayers affected by floods.

Due to the severe flooding in South Carolina, the Internal Revenue Service and the South Carolina Department of Revenue are providing tax relief to taxpayers in affected areas.

As of this writing, tax relief applies to the following counties:

  • Bamberg
  • Berkeley
  • Calhoun
  • Charleston
  • Clarendon
  • Colleton
  • Darlington
  • Dorchester
  • Florence
  • Georgetown
  • Greenwood
  • Horry
  • Kershaw
  • Lee
  • Lexington
  • Newberry
  • Orangeburg
  • Richland
  • Sumter
  • Williamsburg

The tax relief is a postponement of various tax filing and payment deadlines. Taxpayers with deadlines of October 1, 2015 or later now have until February 16, 2016, to file returns and pay any taxes due. Additional information is available on the Department of Revenue website.
