Louisiana Tax Amnesty Temporarily Suspended

  • Nov 24, 2015 | Gail Cole

Louisiana Tax Amnesty 2015 - better late than never.

The Louisiana Tax Amnesty program that was scheduled to start on November 16, 2015, was delayed due to technical difficulties.  Louisiana Tax Amnesty 2015 will now run December 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015.

According to a press release issued by the Louisiana Department of Revenue, some of the amnesty invitation letters mailed to taxpayers contained mistaken information. The department concluded it was in the best interest of the state and taxpayers alike to delay the program until letters containing the correct information could be mailed. Taxpayers who received erroneous letters should receive corrected versions by December 1.

Secretary of Revenue Tim Barfield apologized for the mistake and any inconvenience it may have caused, adding, “LDR will exercise better quality assurance, review and control to prevent this type of human error from occurring again in the future.”
