Louisiana Sales Tax Rate Changes, January 2016

 Local sales tax rate changes take effect in Louisiana, January 2016.

Several local sales tax rate changes will take effect in Louisiana on January 1, 2016.

Ascension Parish

The total rate will increase from 10% to 11% in the Donaldsonville-Annexation of Ascension Parish.

Beauregard Paris

The Town of Merryville in Beauregard Parish will levy a new ¼% sales and use tax, applicable to all taxable transactions. The combined local rate in Merryville will be 9%.

Calcasieu Parish

The local rate in the City of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, will jump 0.25% to 5.75%, for a new combined rate of 9.75%.

The new Hope Economic Development District will levy a 2% sales tax and a 2% hotel occupancy tax. The combined rate for the Hope EDD will be 11.75%.

Plaquemines Parish

The Plaquemines Parish School District will add a 0.5% tax:

  • Parishwide – Food, Drug & Commercial Fishermen: The total rate jumps to 5.5% from 5%
  • Parishwide – General: The total rate jumps to 8.5% from 8%

St. Tammany Parish

The city/town sales tax rate in the Village of Folsom, St. Tammany Parish, will increase by 0.5%, for a new total rate of 9.25%.
